NEGOTIATIONS

Sisters and Brothers,

I am providing a brief update on the status of our contract negotiations.

Local 194 is one of 5 NJTA Unions (IFPTE Local 196 Chapter 1, 196 Chapter 12, 200 and AFSCME Local 3914) in bargaining with the NJ Turnpike Authority. Local 194 has also been at the individual bargaining table. Negotiations have been ongoing since April.

While we have made progress, the job is not complete. State unions, like the 70,000 member Communications Workers of America (CWA), are in the same boat. Negotiations have been fair, respectful, but time consuming.

Local 194 is fighting for a living wage for our lowest paid members, pay parity for our trades people and technicians, and fair across the board wage increases for all. The union is also using creative methods to create additional benefits for you. The bargaining committee will not rush while many important items are still on the table.

Please be patient as negotiations continue. There are 3 additional dates scheduled in September. The expired contract remains enforced until a new agreement is reached. It is extremely important for the union to have your continued support to secure a groundbreaking agreement.

In Solidarity,

President Kushnir
